Chinese Politics Part 1 – China and Political Science
In this part of the course you will learn about the nature of modern political systems in China and their foundations. We will explore such issues as power relationships, institutional design, ethnic and regional dynamics, and the role of actors such as the military, the elite, and civil society in the governance of China. We will also explore issues such as Chinese politics as an instrument for regional integration and for achieving national goals in practice.

In this course, we will introduce the basic ideas and methods of modern political science. We will explore such issues as political parties, popular sovereignty, conflict resolution, the role of minorities in the political process, and the nature of institutional reform in China.

This is Part 1 of 3: Chinese Politics Part 1 – China and Political Science

In this Part 1, we introduce the student body of the College of Political and International Studies and discuss the course material, project and project requirements for Part 1 students. We will also discuss topics such as party politics, the environment of politics in China, the role of elites, and conflicts.

Computers and the Internet
This course introduces basic computer science topics and introduces the Internet through a series of interconnected videos, slides and computer science concepts. This includes the development of computer networks, computer hardware, software, and how the Internet works. The course also covers the basics of the Internet, including a description of TCP/IP and common protocols such as HTTP/1, HTTPS and SMTP. The course also covers the basics of the Internet as a system, addressing the network fundamentals, protocols, addressing the network requirements and network services, and an overview of computer architecture.
